Rotary Public Speaking Competition 2025 Macclesfield Finals
Back
Most adults would run a mile before delivering a public speaking presentation to a packed hall. Fortunately, The Macclesfield Academy has students made of sterner stuff! On the evening of 4th February our Year 10 team, being Chastity (Chairperson), Megan (Main Speaker) and Amana (The Vote of Thanks) made us proud by performing superbly against stiff competition. The team came very close to winning - they were brave, articulate, moving and real beacons of excellence but were pipped at the post by a team of much older Year 13 students from another school. Our girls spoke about ‘The Education of Women - Past and Present’ – and it was the subject which the audience found the most compelling of the evening.
Congratulations girls! Your research, crafted writing, dedication to rehearsals and courage shone through. It also bodes well for the future. It is a fact that the quality most professions and employers repeatedly say is most valued in new employees is the ability to communicate confidently, clearly and articulately with colleagues and clients – and this is why we, at The Macclesfield Academy, put a high value upon developing, encouraging and celebrating the oracy skills of all of our students.
