Student Sports and Leadership Teams Christmas Lunch
BackHere at The Macclesfield Academy, we are blessed with fabulous students who love to get involved in school life through our many sports teams and student leadership. Today, these students were celebrated for their enthusiasm and commitment as fantastic representatives of our school.
Staff and students gathered in the canteen for an early lunch, with staff serving students their Christmas dinner, which was beautifully prepared by our catering team. Plates were piled high with all the trimmings and a buzz of chatter filled the room as students enjoyed their meals, pulled crackers and immersed themselves in the festive atmosphere.
As the meal came to a close, Mr Galvin introduced staff and students to give speeches, welcoming to the floor: Miss Jerome, Mrs Kyaligonza, Earnie, Joe, Mia B, Johanna and Mia T. While Miss Jerome spoke about the excellent effort of our sports teams, Mrs Kyaligonza highlighted the fantastic achievements of the student leadership teams; presenting all the students present as our future leaders. Our student speakers were also inspiring with their speeches as Earnie and Joe reflected on the brilliant journey that our rugby teams have been on and encouraged more students to get signed up! Mia B spoke about the joys of being a member of the netball team and was followed by Mia T and Johanna as School Captain and Deputy School Captain, who shared the wonderful work of the leadership team this year.
All in all, the event was a lovely celebration and opportunity to thank our students for their hard work so far this year.
Also a special thank you to our catering team, who (as always) wore festive dress to mark the occasion and served up a delicious meal for staff and students.
We look forward to future celebration events!
