TMA Students participate in UKMT Maths Challenge
Back
On 29th January, 25 Year 9 and Year 10 pupils took part in the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge. A 60 minute, 25 multiple choice challenge held nationally, UKMT encourages mathematical reasoning, precision of thought and fluency to make students think. TMA has not participated in the Challenge for a few years, but the mathematical minds of our current students were ready to be stretched.
The cohort achieved 2 Gold awards, 1 Silver award and 5 Bronze awards. In particular, Fred B achieved Best in School and Joseph L was recognised as Best in Y9. Both Fred and Nathan E will now go forward to participate in the follow-up Hamilton Olympiad Challenge.
Given the success of the Intermediate challenge, we will be entering Year 7 and Year 8 pupils for the Junior challenge in the coming months.
