The Macclesfield Rotary Public Speaking Competition 

Earlier this month we again hosted The Macclesfield Rotary Public Speaking Competition, an after school event with all local Secondary Schools. 

The Quality was outstanding and really quite awe-inspiring and the judges retired to deliberate for longer than an Old Bailey trail. 

Our Intermediate team came Second in their category! Comprised of Brooke E, Sophie L and Mollie H.

Our Senior team (who were up against teams of sixth formers) comprised of Mia B, Mia T and Johanna H, came equal third in a field of six teams!

Then the utter icing on the prestigious cake was Mia T, being awarded ' Best Individual Speaker' of the night!

Mr Dethick added ' During my career I have often had cause to feel immensely proud of our students and this was one to add to that list. Their articulacy, poise, control and courage – faced with a hall full of ‘strange’ adults -  was a wonder to behold, especially in the face of some really impressive competitors. They have written their pieces, practiced in lunchtimes for weeks – and displayed real character and performance skills – which were a credit to them and to The Macclesfield Academy. 

Further more, some student also had their Mock Exams the same week (hence the late picture)
